Where's memorable quotes from IMDB when I need it? Whoever posted The Squid and the Whale current quotes is weird and juvenile. Anyway, insert Jeff Daniels' line about his son's original song, "Hey You", here.

Yeah, Color and the Shape and There Is Nothing hold up fine. The band was unabashedly influenced by Boston, Journey and the like, so they just churned out reliable pop-rock. It's not like Dave Grohl has to prove how anti-pop he is or once was. We all know.
Yep, God-dreams or getting to know the local record store clerk who knew all this obscure shit to begin with. Ah, remember the days when Os Mutantes were limited to record geek references in 'how obscure can we get?' conversations? Then David Byrne spoiled the joyless party.
Sometimes I wonder if internet world is some parallel reality or if people actually live this way. This typically happens with some form of technology replacing another. As in, someone talking about how Blu-Ray will inevitably trample DVD even though no one I know personally has any care or interest (or enough money)…
Lorem, you didn't connect the dots in earlier threads. You keep referring to the mercenaries/contractors as humans. Um, yes, they are human but couldn't you be a bit more specific? Michelle Rodriguez's role was actually pretty decent through the poorly written film in conveying that people who are contracted to do…
Excellent choices
Aw, AV, you're the best. My unironic ass-kissing has no boundaries. Each one of you came up with something I would have included: the Death Proof car chase, Children Of Men's baby stopping scene, Memento, Before Sunset. You guys rule. I don't even care about thinking of omissions.
Based on her crap acting from the 1990s, is Nicole Kidman the Most Improved Actress of the 00s? If you don't agree, I want suggestions as to who it should be.
Same here, Jesse. The only reason I though of Duchovny is I kept seeing these mentally tired, exasperated characters in AV's list and thought of him. But yeah, the film's not exceptional or anything, just consistent. And yes, Weaver's great in it too. Freakishly like my aunt.
Aw, dammit. Forgot Ellen Burstyn too in Requiem For A Dream. There, I'm walking away now. No more thinking about this.
Praise and omissions
Wow, your top 10 was quite daring, AV Club. I was surprised. Of course, I totally agree with Daniel Plainview and Ennis Del Mar as the top two.
Out of all the tongue clucks, peachfuzz had the sharpest. That was hilarious, thanks.
Brilliant line
"But for whatever reason, Hova felt he had something to prove here, if only to his terrific backing band The Roots, which made consistently better records this decade than he did, and still ended up playing background music on Jimmy Fallon."
This probably got debated in the metal post but I agree with Hyden over Pierce that QOTSA is a hard rock group. I got to contemplating about that when Pierce said there aren't any good hard rock groups around. I just don't see QOTSA as metal and Hyden's explanation was perfect as to why.
Koski: Add me to the list of only childs from the 80-85 era that contradict your hypothesis. I saw all the big budget films of that era. And my best friend who was also in that specific demographic also considers "Ghostbusters" his favorite movie ever. So keep working on your theory and don't underestimate all those…
Thanks, AV
After reading a few LVT interviews, I was secretly hoping AV could punch through and I'm especially glad Tobias got to interview him.
"Bros" by Panda Bear really is a quite incredible song. When those snare hits start to overlay around the 6-7 minute mark, the song builds a new steam just when it was starting to get a bit tedious. For a person still unsure of the whole Animal Collective phenomenon, that song is totally on another level and one of…
John248, I think you're too fixated on looking through a business perspective. The simple fact is that workers don't own what they produce. Every conversation I've had with a small businessman has resulted in listening to this boring tirade of how heavily taxed the guy is.

"Why are we having this debate between a 16th-century economic philosophy and a 19th-century economic philosophy?"
My fave Albini behind-the-boards album
When I met Falco from Mclusky after his show, the first question I asked him was 'what was it like to work with Albini?' Not because I'm some slavish Albini fan, just Falco gives you the impression through his music that he's not interested in talking about himself or his band.
Fela and bikes
I have to bike ride daily being carless and consider headphones far too essential versus my supposedly vulnerability without them(psst, cars are loud, you can still hear them approaching behind you).
