Van + The Band is pretty much gold. I'm not going to defend the lyrics, but 4% Pantmime from Cahoots features some insanely powerful singing from Van and Richard Manuel. I'd have liked to have been a fly on the wall for that recording session.

Johnny Rico from the book is actually almost certainly not white. He is a Filipino and he speaks Tagalog.

I'd actually like to see Breaking Bad go before Mad Men. Mad Men is scheduled to last six seasons and AMC will probably give it it's complete run, but I think Breaking Bad should end with its fourth season.

I prefer her work with Danzig:

The song is A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. It was EVERYWHERE in the early 2000s.

She has beef with Bieber, for fuck's sake.
Why not make fun of her?

John Lennon probably did not beat Yoko Ono, but there are reports he may have slapped Cynthia Lennon around a bit.

I got mine off of eMusic. I think eMusic carries Anti again these days, but I'm not sure.

He had green flippers and sang the blues
First Grinderman holds up very well, I listen to it all the time and it still rocks. Looking forward to this and hopefully a more extensive American tour!

Nuke
What a shame this story was. Frank Miller had one of the great Captain America stories of all time to tell, and he shoehorned it into the end of what would have been the greatest Daredevil story of all time and neither completely worked.

The cover
I believe the cover is an homage to Howlin' Wolf, specifically This is Howlin' Wolf's New Album.

If you include the OUTSTANDING Cherry Tree EP, their recent run becomes even more impressive.

Underrated live act
I saw them live in Atlanta three years ago (with Dan, Neko, and AC all in attendance) not expecting much and I thought they were great - the setlist was long and generous (over two hours!) they have great onstage chemistry with each other, and I got to see Neko Case cuss out a heckler.

Idioteque, I mean.

It's funny that you picked one of the Radiohead songs that's actually not that difficult to make sense out of as an example of Yorke's lyrical obtuseness.

A positive word.
I know their last album was not well-received, but "Rest My Chemistry" is one of my favorite songs ever.

I'm pretty sure this video was shot in Britain. The kids all have that distinctly British ugliness (and not just because they're gingers).

Posters really hamming it up in this thread!

No one lifted lines, uncredited, from early blues singers more than the early blues singers themselves. Those guys borrowed from each other shamelessly and didn't care about keeping hipsters happy about "authenticity".
