Daniel Kerr gave Cousins a fair chop-out in that regard!

I'd keep that quiet ..

I'm an S2 apologist myself…
happy to concede there's some flat/slow episodes in the early going, but it gets a worse rap than it deserves;

I'm not sure that she did either - the silence of the Air Nomads was my one small complaint regarding the finale also ..

Jesus - I did pick up the parallels, but now I need to read those last couple of lines again to see what you're getting at ..

Well said.
I've been somewhat of an advocate for a less touchy-feely, pc AVclub, because frankly a lot of the hand-wringing around here reeks of moralistic grandstanding, but threats and racist/homophobic insults are just crap; not witty and utterly pathetic.

fair enough, glad you liked it more than me

no, but thanks, I'll look into them - there's a really cool essay he wrote on Nick Drake freely available to read online, that's excellent also … yes very sad to lose such a talent ..

most of it's filler.

I don't understand people who seriously take that stance.

Paul came through with the goods on Lennon's "Tomorrow Never Knows" - I'm fairly sure he suggested a vastly improved drum part for Ringo to perform, and also brought in the bulk of the amazingly integrated tape effects (e.g. the high-pitched laughing and backwards guitar parts) ..

rubbish.

ooh, nice curveball …

I don't know that I find "For No One" depressing so much as it's just supremely cool; the mood it evokes for me is kinda ambivalent, but I never tire of the bubble of the thing .. it's McCartney playing piano on that track, yeah?

I bought it last year and refer to it with ridiculous regularity, I've probably committed more to memory than I realize at this point ..

Really?
I have both books, and MacDonald's leaves Emericks in the shade; I don't care if Emerick was 'there' (and made some clever contributions) or not, MacDonald's book is so much more insightful, clever and informative.

dunno if that tips the odds in McCartney's favour, but I do agree that is such a superb song.

that's probably the most succinct and accurate summation of their working relationship that I've seen, nice work.

Ian MacDonald couldn't have said it better @avclub-e9a0950f0367d856af63758903d2770a:disqus - great post.
