I'm presuming maybe it refers to the fact that Mercer pretty much sacked his whole band and replaced them with robots?

Me too, I have a few albums of his, including some really old vinyl, but my faves remain the run of JuJu Music>Synchro System>Aura which he released in the 80's through Mango; wonderful stuff.

Stroke it Noel is stunning, the string arrangement is up there with maybe Eleanor Rigby

Robert Johnson version? it's eerie

While I agree that Belew's solos on The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads are uniformly incendiary, I'm pretty sure that the solo on Building on Fire is actually Harrison and Byrne enacting a bit of interplay in a mode that's unlike most of their more spiky, funktional playing .. that version is of the band as a

only Tunnel of Love comes close to a genuine goosebumps moment, for mine .. perhaps Making Movies nearly gets there ..

bastard, that's so good, that should've been mine …

I was just today reading George Martin's anecdote of when Lennon first played it to him on an acoustic guitar; said the hairs on the back of his neck stood up, so that qualifies as a 'goosebumps' moment for sure.

what a great nomination, such a stirring song

Sitch/Working Dog have a lot of credits in the bank, and have produced some of Australia's better comedy over the years; from the groundbreakingly good Frontline to the Castle, and more recently Utopia, which I find consistently hilarious.

I've always liked Rob Sitch; Utopia is one of the only funny Australian shows that I'll bother trying to catch regularly.

Jonathan Richman is rock's #1 Contrarian, I love that guy.
As soon as punk became a 'thing', he was running as fast as he could in the other direction.
I find him to be one of the most genuinely interesting and strange people in music; the stuff he is doing these days is just as willfully obtuse as ever ..

did Fields work with Television, or am I mistaken?

ha; I won't even click, I'm just going to assume you're talking about his legendarily baaaaad performance at the 2011 AFL Grand Final (Go Cats!)
- inspiration behind my avatar, as you can see ..

I unfortunately sat through this one a year ago too; I reckon a C+ is bordering on generous …

I bought this soundtrack on - ahem - cassette when it was released basically so I could get hold of the Talking Heads track. And it stands as one of their better late-career songs, it's great.
The other song that stood out to me was 'Last Night's Sleep' - I had no idea who Can were at that time, but it's a great track.

Fair enough.
I think Byrne only wears it for like, two songs in the movie.
Actually, two and a half.

to me that suit looks pretty much exactly like the one David Byrne wears for the first three quarters of Stop Making Sense…

Tina Weymouth played one with Tom Tom Club for a while in the late 80's/early 90's

I'm a huge fan too, and I'm really looking forward to the 'documentary' - Armisen's small-Byrne-suit is replica quality, and the song was pretty cool.
