Yeah, I just looked it up, and it's his mother's birth year (so his mother is three years older than me; that's…ugh), but the way it's written it's not Roman numerals for 1975, but the sequence 1, 9, 7, 5.  That's just plain moronic.

It looks like he has the Roman numerals I IX VII V on his chest.  What does that mean?  If it's the year 1975, shouldn't it be MCMLXXV?
