So that show will end either with her dead, in an insane asylum, or married.

It's not so much laziness, perhaps, as being stuck with certain conventions that need to be included that also suck all the drama out of the story.

The problem with any kind of "romance" is that somebody has to make the first move, and 9 times out of 10 it's not going to be the woman. And because it's the man making the move, and because he's usually in the more dominant social position to begin with, it's going to look creepy or dangerous.

The biggest problem I see with it is that it's terrible for creating human figures. Or maybe there's a way around it. Otherwise, it could be used to create outer-space landscapes and maybe surreal landscapes with floating mountains and stuff.
