Don't get me wrong, it is a baaaaad film. But it wasn't nearly as terrible as I was expecting. 56 on Metacritic is about exactly what I'd give it.

Twatlight
"What makes Twilight such an unsatisfactory experience is that while it offers lip service to the dangers the Cullens represent, those dangers never seem entirely real."
Yeas it grossed nearly 200 million domestically (and another 180 million overseas, but remember I'm talking only domestic profits here), but it probably had a budget of 100 million plus.
I actually don't remember. The article pretty much stated that Dreamworks made about 10 million dollars domestically on Monsters vs. Aliens (it didn't take into account foreign money, which I'm sure was HUGE being that kids 3d movies do exceptionally well world-wide).
@die-curious
I just re-watched Ghostbusters 2 last night because I'm podcasting on it this week. It is a truly awful sequel, and almost, *almost* squanders the goodwill of the first one and talent of its stars. Bill Murray *really* does not want to be there, and it's clear in his line delivery. I've read that this film was…
Theaters take about 50% of the first week gross, and then it levels off after that. All told, movie studios take about 55% of the final gross when all is said and done.
Precious 2: The Precious-ing
Actual conversation
My roommate: Wow, have you seen the trailer and commercials for that new film 2012!!??
Me: Yeah… it looks atrocious.
My roommate: I don't know. How can a movie that has that good of special effects be a bad film?
Me: RAAAAAAAGE!
ZODIAC MOTHERFUCKER YOU FUCKING BITCH ASS PUSSY COME TO MY HOUSE AND SAY THAT WHACK ASS SHIT TO MY FACE YOU BITCH. YOU DONT HAVE THE FUCKING CAJONES TO DO IT BECAUSE YOU ARE A WHACK ASS BITCH WHINY VIRGIN PUSSY. I WILL DEMOLISH YOU WITH FISTS OF RECKONING SON. YOU BETTER RECOGNIZE MY AWESOMENESS AND ABILITY TO OWN…
My problem with Law and Order is that every episode's villain is "the rich white guy." It's just too predictable. There's no suspense anymore.
Yeah it is strange that people seemingly abandoned MITM in the subsequent seasons. But for my money, it is consistently the best half-h0ur comedy in the pre-Office/30 Rock era. I too never noticed any kind of dip in quality. I actually think Francis' transition from student to laborer to husband was rather dynamic,…
Malcolm in the Middle
I don't understand the "bad" you're referring to, Todd. I thought Malcolm had a pretty solid 6 season run. I've been catching a lot of the reruns on Nick at Night lately, and the show is still as fresh and funny to me now as it was when it first aired. It's actually my vote for underrated sitcom…
Or maybe some people truly believe they don't have to help others? Sheesh this is America… they're entitled to believe what they want. Not everyone has to have the same fucking view about everything.
Seasons 1-3 are solid. After that is a noticeable dip in quality. It's an above average show, but not top-30 imo.
I pray for an "ignore user" button.
I actually thought that Tom Goes to the Mayor was a funnier show in terms of consistency than Tim and Eric.
I liked the second season of VM better than the first as well.
Have to either second or third the love for "Pier Pressure." I subversively aired it during a special "don't do drugs" week at the school I used to teach at.
…but at least no one was raped (thankfully).
