I watched that Look of Awe montage and found the whole thing to be silly.  Spielberg's making movies about dinosaurs, aliens, raiders of arks that can't be found, more aliens, more dinosaurs, future world, Tom Hanks in an airport.  Of course there are going to be people gasping in awe.  What was Laura Dern supposed to

Will forgo the obvious ones and say Mark Knopfler, "Restless Farewell."  Cuts right to the core and is lovely in its subtlety and nuance.

I'm just dubious as to why this kind of Nick Kroll punching doesn't happen more often…

Agree on the unevenness.  'Modern Times' had some knockout tracks (I think "Workingman's Blues #2" and "Ain't Talkin'" rank up there with his best modern work) and a whole lotta long filler.  Why does "Beyond the Horion" exist?  Why?  'Together Through Life' was about as average as an album can be.  I've listened to

I'll never be able to pin down a favorite Dylan song.  It always depends on mood.  There are certain songs that only Dylan could have done, though, that exist in some plane of emotion that almost no other musician could touch.  "Visions of Johanna," "I'm Not There," "Like A Rolling Stone," "Desolation Row," "Mr.

If 'Americana' was any indication, this is going to be a good album.  'Americana' was about as fun as you could expect such a record to be and everything in there sounded great.  I am looking forward to this.

'House of the Devil' was great atmospheric fun, even if the last 25% or thereabouts completely blew up the ubercreepy vibe that the move had built.  Lordy, the first time I watched that movie, I felt beyond uncomfortable.  Just a creepy little film.

In the last week, I moved to China and haven't been able to comment here until getting the internet today, but I must say, DENTAL PLAN.

Good to know that this fills the annual Late August Movie That You Assume Will Not Be Good But Is Actually Fun quota for the year.  All other late August releases:  Sucks to be you.  Quota already filled.

My second roommate during my undergrad (I had four different roommates over time because I was a bit of a prickly pear to be around during those years) loved these guys and used my stereo to play them very very loudly.  So I hate them, yeah.  Good hateful story if a bit general and lacking in detail, bro.

After Rabin's mortifying delay to review "Last Exit to Springfield" (I am going to China to teach for ONE FUCKING YEAR come Friday, and Rabin couldn't even send me off with that review?), I want five people reviewing classic Simpsons every week.  Mistakes like this should never happen again.
