A million people not being able to watch Will Smith fight aliens in a Chinese restaurant isn't cool. You know what's cool? A BILLION people not being able to watch Will Smith fight aliens in a Chinese restaurant.

Whoa revisionist history. 'Independence Day' was genuinely fun. How do you not have fun watching that movie? Yeah, it's campy, cheesy in parts, and completely over-the-top. That's sort of the point. We watch it on TNT when there's nothing else on because it came out fourteen years ago and everybody has seen it a…

CAN YOU COOK AND SEW MAKE FLOWERS GROW, DO YOU UNDERSTAND MY PAAAAAAAAAAAIN? "Senor" is a good song, and the melodies throughout the album are top-notch, but those two things aren't enough to make it a good album. His singing is cringe-inducing (and yes, I understand that complaining about Dylan's voice is…

I think TOoM and L/T are his two best modern records, both of them very consistent, but both of them doing very different things. TOoM is really like a 'Blood on the Tracks' for the modern era. Everybody plays up the mortality angle, but the album is largely focused on relationships. Whereas L/T is a grab bag of…

Yeah, I agree that it was more highly regarded than the dashed off mention that the authors gave it—certainly a better album than 'Together Through Life.' I also love 'Modern Times' because it's a crazy dark album on a lot of levels. "Ain't Talkin'" is such a killer album ender.

Can't really quibble with this list. I think Dylan breaks pretty neatly into tiers for an artist who has been recording music for half-a-century. We all have our personal albums we might bump up or down on the list, but those Great Albums are more or less cemented in place. As for personal albums I would bump…

I liked Family Guy when I was doing my undergrad, but that's because I was young and stupid. We all did things we regretted in college…

Paul always wanted to please everybody, it seems (which is why he sometimes gets hit with the "fake" or "plastic" label), so I think your logic is sound. A guy like Bob Dylan actively loathed the press and could withstand the firing squad because he just didn't give a shit, but Paul was never like that. It had to…

Completely disagree on the "emotionally inert" idea. When I listen to those albums, I think they hold up spectacularly well. Later in their careers, all of them struggled to advance as musicians (though I think 'Double Fantasy' is great and it's sad that Lennon never got to record another album), shadowed as they…

Oh yes, can't forget Ringo, but while his solo albums are inoffensive, I never actually listen to them. He's fine, and his debut album was pretty solid. Jelly babies for all!
