The way the best solo Beatle albums turned out so completely different and, for lack of a better phrase, one sided ('All Things Must Pass' is a huge monolithic album, 'Plastic Ono Band' is all burnt emotion, 'Ram' and 'McCartney' are chock full of melodic pop) helps to show how great The Beatles were.  Somehow, they

Pretty mediocre ending.  I guess we can't really ask for that much from Celebrity Apprentice, but could we please get two finalists who hate each other next time?  The "we're both great and I'd like to win but really we're both great" schtick makes for boring television.

Please don't make me retire.  I never married and my dog is dead.

I just don't think that's true.  I've never met somebody who really wanted to see a movie but was like, "Eh, I'll just wait half a year for it to come out on Netflix."  You do that for borderline movies, not great ones.  If Netflix had existed when 'Titanic' was released, 'Titanic' would still have made (pardon the

Good to know that the top three highest grossing movies of all time are going to be a Kate Winslet nudie, a movie about blue people, and a fun popcorn movie with the depth of a puddle.  In some order.

I loved 'Big Fish,' and I refuse to allow the AV Club's rampant cynicism and snark to destroy my soft spot for sentimental, sappy films.  Sure, 'Big Fish' was horribly sweet, cringe-inducingly into itself at times, and you have to really really go with it if you want it to work.  But you know what?  I do not care

The real question:  Does this movie as a whole act as the grim specter of death for Robert De Niro's acting career?  I would say yes, but then there were all those movies from the last decade that he survived.  Please.  Stop.  Hiring.  Him.  I figure if I put a period after each word, Hollywood will get the message.

Maybe they should title it 'That Show I Won't Be Watching.'

Looks like every Will Ferrell movie ever made, and I suppose if you carry those expectations into it, then it'll be humorous enough.  Or you could just not watch it at all.

This is unfortunate news for all involved.

I think the HII problem is a legit one.  It's just too much of a power swing and people become horribly horribly afraid (oftentimes when I think they shouldn't).  So, I think the solution isn't to get rid of it.  First, hide them way way way more carefully.  Nobody should be finding an Idol as quickly as these people

I think for the sake of having any drama whatsoever, you need to have Aubrey in the final two.  Arsenio and Clay like each other and have too much respect for one another.  That is a matchup that feels dead already.  Arsenio's had one mega meltdown regarding Aubrey (before reaching some sort of vague, semi-truce), and

FX pays him, I assume, boatloads of money for his TV show.  Or if not boatloads, then at least a few hefty bags with dollar signs on 'em.  What's wrong with their involvement?  I'm all about artists getting money directly from the consumer, but I'm also all about things getting wide exposure on TV.  I don't really

Would your opinion change if I told you I just so happened to be Steven Spielberg and not just some random guy whittling down his last days in grad school while typing from a futon and drinking Diet Mountain Dew? If that is the case, then your opinion will not change.  But seriously, I completely agree that Whedon did

I am not a Whedonite, either, and what I feel is a sort of meh-ness toward the whole thing.  Giant superhero movie breaks record?  Giant superhero movie that had a bunch of giant superhero movies in previous years to prop it up?  Giant superhero movie that rides on one-liners by actors who are great at one-liners?  I
