This show’s fandom has gotten an unfair reputation for being uncompromising and mean to other fandoms. While that might be the case at other sites, it’s never been the case here
Never been the case here? What site are you on? Community uber-fans on here are scary. Maybe scary in a good way, but still scary.

Yeah, I think it walked the tightrope very well in terms of being accessible to new viewers whilst not getting bogged down in exposition. A lot of actual comics could learn a lesson from it in this regard.

I think the main connection the Avengers and Star Trek have to TV is that sense of familiarity that you get with TV shows, you already know these characters so the story can move a lot quicker. Most big superhero movies suffer from origin syndrome, where over half of the film is introducing the hero, the Avengers

On a related note to Leslie's mother, am I misremembering or have we never had a mention of Leslie's dad? Where is he? Is he dead? Was he ever around in her childhood? Is he Joe Biden?

I think boycotting the movie on Kirby's behalf is wrong-headed because it's not like he's the sole creator of any of these characters. Stan Lee, Joe Simon, Larry Lieber, Don Heck and Don Rico all had hands in the creation of one or more of the featured Avengers. The movie also features big parts for characters created

Flying Burrito Bros T-Shirt.

I watched The Ides Of March on friday, I got it for my birthday which is March 15th, so the actual Ides Of March. It was good, lots of top-notch actors.

I continued my marathon of Friday Night Lights mostly, I finished up Season 3 and watched the first 2 episodes of Season 4. So it's safe to say I spent most of the weekend furious at Joe McCoy. Can't wait to see where all of the East Dillon stuff goes.

I think it was more like he saw his own dead brother in Tiberius.

Isn't that pretty much a formula for Vertigo comics? And the details around Yorick and Jesse's quests and what's chasing them are very, very different.

Well I didn't realise it! And the whole thing with him being the 'chosen one' and possibly a future King is still nebulous.

You mean because it doesn't have a quest plot-line in the middle? I'd say the impending the battle with the Others is a through-line.

Except Martin has said that there will be 2 more books. There's your endpoint.

But who are we readers to say what deserves focus? We may wonder why the hell we need Victarion Greyjoy or Quentyn Martell, but he could be very important down the line. Or he could as you say be unnecessary. It's hard to judge at this point what is bloated writing and what is necessary.

Dark Tower opened in media res too, hence the need for an entire book (Wizard And Glass) to explain back-story.

I don't understand why people are in such a rush to get to the ending and fixating on the ending. In general, I think Endings are overrated. Just by sheer volume the middle of a story is more important than the ending, as there's more of it. I know that all stories need one, but a great story can transcend a dodgy or

Edgar Wright is attached to direct Ant-Man, but both Wright and Joe Cornish wrote the script.

Because Sansa was only 12, those kind of lessons come later I would think, if at all.

Maybe they'll reveal that later? Tyrion wants Shae to like him (even if she is a whore), and revealing that would probably turn her off.

People need to remember that Stannis is younger than Robert, he may act like an older man and be bald, but he's probably only just turning 40.
