I said I liked DeConnick in this very thread!
Yes, but anyone can be a Police Officer or Soldier with the right training, most superheroes get their powers by accident. What are people in the MU supposed to do, have a go at radioactive spiders for biting a man not a woman? Start deliberately exposing women to toxic waste to create more female superheroes?
Yeah, it's sort of like, I'd like to read more comics from women, but more than that, I just want good comics, no matter who they come from. DeConnick delivers that for me, Simone does not.
What are your thoughts on Simon Baz Green Lantern?
Yeah, I feel sometimes the especially pro-women-in-comics fans take it too far and create straw-men arguments. See the terrible column on CBR this week about Ms. Marvel by Brett White, or heck, the reaction to that guy who ripped up Pretty Deadly #1. It seems that you can't criticise a female writer without being…
I thought this issue of Captain Marvel was OK, but I think there's a real disparity between the character's status in the real world and inside the Marvel Universe. This issue was a tribute to the fans, but I don't think DeConnick has done a good enough job at showing Carol Danvers be inspirational and a great hero in…
I love Saga, but I don't get the passion for Lying Cat.
Jensen, Chang and Venditti's Green Lantern Corps has been great, the main title and New Guardians have been OK.
Addendum: I actually can tell when I'm being pandered to by Geoff Johns, because he makes it so obvious.
To be honest, pandering probably just means 'I personally don't like it'. I know that's hypocritical, but it's true. Nobody realises when they themselves are being pandered to, but they can see it when others are.
In addition, I think the other 'teen' Avengers book, Arena is the much better series, and that's a book that is HATED by fans on Tumblr. I think that place has replaced CBR as the most often wrong comics community on the internet.
I think this book is really suffering because of the Tumblr-bait. It feels less like an actual story and more like a collection of moments designed to be turned into gifs. It's just trying way too hard.
Satellite Sam, Superior Foes Of Spider-Man and Avengers AI were all really good starts to new series I thought. I also enjoyed the newest Batman Inc a lot, even though it was mainly one big action scene, there was one amazing line of dialogue that just summed Batman up for me.
So mine is just another interpretation of that thread! It's a metaphor.
It's not hard to create a good Superman movie, it's just the character has so many different interpretations to him that it's hard to make one that will please everybody.
There's too much stuff out there that I haven't watched once for me to re-watch something instead.
Yeah, Young Avengers is definitely too focused on pleasing a narrow audience of Tumblr fans. I feel like Gillen accidentally stumbled onto this audience with JiM, and it worked because he wasn't writing it for them, they just happened to like it.
Do you watch Da Vinci's Demons? There was a scene in a Men's Sauna in the most recent episode, and there was one visible penis, but it was comically large and played for a joke.
I don't see how boobs are seen as the equivalent to a penis. Surely the equivalent of a penis is a vagina, which isn't that prevalent in the show.
