It could even be a direct trajectory. Think about someone firing from shoulder height sighting down from their eye line into a vehicle. It is a fairly downward trajectory. Could easily end up a belly shot depending on the distance. Include diffraction from the windshield, no problem.

I doubt that is a problem these days as the licenses are likely pretty broad, up to and including streaming. The hiccup came in shows that were in that transition period when DVD/secondary releases of TV shows weren't really all that contemplated. Now those are clearly part of the revenue model so they plan for it.
