Smoking.
I'm an ashamed smoker, and I try to keep it in severe moderation, so if I'm having cravings, it's reaaaaaaaaaaaaally hard to watch a single fucking movie by Wes Anderson or Jim Jarmusch, who have so many damn shots of smoking in their movies. I can't even watch Coffee & Cigarettes anymore.

Got the best tickets available for Sacramento.

I dunno, Living with the Living is probably my favorite of his. It's definitely the Clashyest. And Sons of Cain/La Costa Brava are definitely my two favorite songs of his.

Mick Jones & Paul Simonon
When I found out that Mick and Paul will be going on tour with Albarn for this album, I was really excited, but then I heard this album.

I saw him do "Sons of Cain" live a little before Living came out and was so blown away by the performance that I loved the album just because of that live experience.

I just happen to think John Candy was wildly charismatic in a script that would have been more obviously lacking had anyone else starred in it. I like a lot of John Hughes movies, but I'm not going to pretend they're, like, high art or some shit.

Aw man, I looked her up and she stopped being adorable and started being a mediocre TV actress. Shame.

Is that a local drink I've never heard of or is it unique to the movie?

I was gonna try and defend Uncle Buck's writing (a film I love for nostalgic reasons), but really, that was just John Candy's ability to save any script and that adorable teenage girl.

Wait a minute.
Didn't all of John Hughes' scripts, like, objectively suck after Home Alone 2? Wasn't that part of why he used the pseudonym, because it was just for the money?

Also:

I forgot another classic line. In response to paternity suit allegations, Murray keeps walking and casually goes:

Kingpin is hilarious.
Very underrated comedy.

American V was fucking awesome. That incredible cover of Further On Up The Road is worth the price of admission alone. Murders Springsteen's version. "Now I've been out in the desert / just doing my time / searching through the dust / looking for a sign / if there's a light up ahead / well brother I don't know / and

This is a really powerful album.
I can't stand Sheryl Crow, but that cover of Redemption Day continues Cash's streak of having at least one "the original might as well not exist now" cover per album. Gives me chills when he sings "Was there no oil to excavate / No riches in trade for the fate / Of every person who

Also, nostalgia trip: my only other knowledge of k.d. lang is when I was watching SNL and John Goodman gave a stupidly enthusiastic introduction to her: "k.d. lang and the REEEECLINE"

Wow.
I only knew of her through a particularly overwrought and tacky version of Cohen's Hallelujah, but her pipes really are something else.

When I said big, I meant big compared to the other stuff H. Jon Benjamin's worked in. It has some bigger actors so it could theoretically have a bigger fanbase than the usual post-midnight Adult Swim stuff.

So, just wanted to say…
Thanks so much for writing recaps of this show. I love H. Jon Benjamin and this is the only show I've been watching on original air date since Eastbound & Down.

He teaches at my school and I'm in the same building every once in awhile.
