Calling Murakami out for his depictions of sex in 1Q84 in Murakami is weird to me. It's really no different or more graphic than how he's always treated sex. The man clearly likes sexy sex scenes, beautiful (though never in a conventional way) women, and having his main characters' junk being caressed.

The only documented case of abridging is with Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (something like two chapters and a few passages). I've heard speculation about Kafka on the Shore being somewhat edited down, but no one's offered any definitive examples. Birnbaum is known for being a little more stylistic (and arguably

D is a bit harsh. It's definitely over-reaching, but the plot is often times very compelling. There is some repetition, but usually it's to add another layer to what we already know. Clumsy to be sure, but it's easy to get sucked in to it. I would give it a B- (in fact, I will right now).

Holy shit yes. Sputnik Sweetheart is by far my favorite work (and I love almost everything by him). It works on so many levels. I wrote a big-ass paper on it to graduate from college.

I mean, Underground is good but it's hardly got any Murakami in it…since the large majority of it is a collection of interviews. So… I would try basically anything else to get a better flavor or "real" Murakami. Maybe start with a short story collection?

I love this man.

I just can't get into this. All Childish Gambino songs are one part "Check out how much pussy I get" to one part "I am the best" to two parts pop culture references, and they're all delivered in that same tone same tone same tone EMPHASIS/HIGHER PITCH AT THE END. The lyrics are definitely clever, but they just seem to

The "it's the little things make it awesome" comment:

I clicked to take the Take the Lollipop but nothing happened. Then  remembered I have Firefox privacy add-ons that prevent that button from working and connecting with shit so now I get why shit didn't happen. Good to know the add-on works!

This is kind of old news but it is definitely a bit frightening. But no one does news like O'Neal so I'll allow it!

I feel like Troy was just getting used to it just being Troy and Abed time all the time and didn't want to face a change in dynamic (honestly, I bet it would be super hard to live with a type-A personality like Annie.)

Maybe it's thinking too deeply about it, but besides the Jeff and Pierce get pizza story lines, when Annie left it  wasn't THAT bad. Awkward but no real fighting.

All I know is that my gut says maybe.

And yet I think on rewatch, Art of Discourse isn't that bad…there's a lot of funny stuff. It has one of Troy's best lines:

Maybe I was still going on the Community high but I thought this episode was pretty hilarious. Did I somehow see a different episode?

Troy:

But sir, we have not had-a the stromboli….in years!

Calzones are like pizza that's harder to eat. Calzones are dumb, and so was that idea.
