I see what you did there.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised too to see the A. The Random House sales rep that comes to the bookstore I work at told me in private that he thinks its the most overrated thing he's read in a while. I'm not a buyer so it's not like we didn't buy a bunch of copies anyway, and I think we're already sold out. I might give

I hate to trash her singing, because it is very sweet, but if it turned out she had WON with that rendition… suspension of disbelief crushed. Those notes are supposed to be held, not thrown off a cliff.

WHERE'S MY BATTLE ANGEL ALITA MOVIE YOU PROMISED IN, LIKE, 2005??? D: D: D:

When I was a little kid, my dad would sing "Dead Skunk" to me and my sister as a lullaby and was one of my favorite songs. When I found out it was a real song in my teenage years, by the dad in Undeclared, my head just about exploded.

Blake Butler. Sure, he's great. But seriously? Ben Loory? I liked his latest collection, but half of the stories in his latest collection had the exact same premise. Oh look, anonymous person X had another metaphorical dream.

trajeado: Tales from Earthsea is so bad. So so so so so bad. On every level.

Kevin Brockmeier's "The Illumination" is another. WOEFULLY INADEQUATE, THIS LIST

I still think the best Roots musical moment is when Tim and Eric came on and they played "SPORTS"

six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six seasons and a movie six

Also, this is hilarious:

Stand up Comedy Thread!

ughhhh Metaxa. One of the most disgusting things I've ever swallowed.

I can't get the music to play. Boo!

Strangely, one of the things that I do like is the way it converges almost everything Murakami has done into one comprehensive novel. There are elements from probably every major work he's done yet. Maybe some people would think that's a bad thing, that he's just repeating himself, but the way he's trying to fit it

Really? I prefer Gabriel's translations to Jay Rubin's. Birnbaum might be my favorite, but it's hard to disassociate the translation from just the plot stuff of the stuff he's translated.
