@avclub-40e90db13ab31c7efd64228034182c2e:disqus It's true, and I agree for sure. I meant to add that since this does give away Walt's fate or lack thereof up until the time of the flash forward, it's such a "spoiler" that Gilligan must have had a reason for it.

It does serve to immediately inform the viewer that Walt will not die for at least his next two birthdays. Given the stakes at play, that's a fairly significant reveal.
