a review of the film that i did when it screened at TIFF:

a review i wrote of lifeforce a while ago:

Steve Martin in Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Cage was at the wednesday show & he talked about he had been taking a year off until something showed up where he didn't have to "act" aka "western kabuki" because the material was so strong…and he loves Undertow….Green gets a great performance out of him, but Gary Poulter (in his first and final film role) is a

it's his best film since Undertow.  a complete return to form.

there are good films here, i swear:
Joe
Norte, the End of History
Manuscripts Don't Burn
Stranger by the Lake
Like Father, Like Son
Only Lovers Left Alive!!!!

if you get a chance, check out Lav Diaz's Norte, The End of History.  it's a masterpiece.

the shaggs?

i was like that dog from the littlest hobo. 'cept the only time i lick strangers faces is when i'm fuckin' em.

SAD as a unfucked pumpkin, not said.

the orchard keeper is pretty great, but it's the most obviously Faulknerian of McCarthy's stuff and comes of slightly mawkish because of it (mostly due to it being the earliest as well). i enjoyed it far more than "Outer Dark" or "Child Of God".

tooting my horn!
i'd like to bring your attention to a post made on April 29th at 8:23am on this here internets:

does "diverged greatly" mean "no gorilla"?

my favourite beach boys moments:
Girl Don't Tell Me
Let Him Run Wild
and the "Sometimes I feel very sad" bridge in "I just wasn't made for these times", which i wish was 20 minutes longer…
