None of RTD's scripts carried any weight. They were all resolved with ridiculous plot devices, the worst abuses of deus ex machina. (There was even a giant switch thrown in Doomsday or whatever that episode was called.) And When the Master came back, the Doctor turned into a shriveled Yoda Jesus who was resurrected by

Well, wasn't Hurt's war doctor merely a substitute? Otherwise, there shouldn't have been any room for him.

Is it true that this was broadcast first in the US (at a Chicago convention or something) and then in the UK?

That little march or whatever you call the Sontarans theme tune in Two Doctors is quite good. The Doctor also murders a murderous chef with ethyl acetate and decides to become a vegetarian. Gotta love the Saward era.

Seeing them old would be Cheers-esque. They could even have danced like Sam and Diane. Or have a lawyer opening the envelope but instead of a will it could contain a sperm count report.

Love the Tap allusion.

I get how the circumstances taint your enjoyment of it, but the film is great apart from how hamfisted an attempt it might be at self-justification. (Frankly, the analogy doesn't really hold well enough to vindicate Kazan.) Plus, can anything spoil the proto-liberation theology eulogy/sermon Fr. Barry (Karl Malden)

I know I am way behind in watching all this, but…

I can't decide whether Rose's story is one that just won't end or that has so many endings it just keeps ending. Either way, it long since passed the point of diminishing returns.

sure but Lennon was pretty much a dick in his public life, too. I was reading an interview he gave for Rolling Stone and I was struck by two things: how smart/insightful he was and how he seemed like an insufferable prick.

I like the one that pukes silver vomit as a result of the beating handed out by the Raston warrior robot

I thought of the mathematical genius twins, too, as well as Nyssa's doppelganger in Black Orchid

Steve Earle will wrap those long balls around your neck and choke you to death

Is the Soup Nazi in it?

I second the enthusiasm for a Bahn-scripted review of the Day of the Doctor ensconced in his review of classic DW (preferably the Five Doctors).

Sorry I overlooked that. Never meant to deny you credit or anything. I'm sure I don't want to make an enemy of the Hulk.

"Even within that setting, though, I find the idea of Abu Nazir’s men
invading the CIA-occupied tailor’s shop and gunning everybody down
slightly hard to believe."

I second your opinion that Mike Yates' reaction is great.

Lots of good suggestions, but I think Jimmer's below is very timely: cover The Five Doctors 20th anniversary special in anticipation of the 50th. (The Three Doctors has already been done, but it would make sense to include it in the conversation, too.)
