Quantum Leapers of a certain age

Patrick Stewart wants to know "is there any nudity in it?" and if having an older bald man is on her list he will "make it so." ("You've never seen Star Trek? All that time studying?")

A priest at my Catholic HS encouraged a few of us to watch Eating Raoul and write a review of it for the school newspaper. I will never be able to disentangle my impression of the film from seeing it on his suggestion and for that reason.

The text of the review makes it obvious D'Ouchebag did not understand it.

He also seemed a bit obtuse, stubbornly missing the point—at least his review misunderstands the core of the story and film.

what the frack, kenneth?

I like the "not showboating" observation. It names precisely something that had vaguely annoyed me about the recent doctors. The program doesn't trust itself to portray ("show") the doctor nor the audience to notice, so it keeps on telling us how great he is.

Well, the Tereleptil does destroy the sonic screwdriver. Should have done that before RTD and the new series abused it as a panacea/magic wand/deus ex machina far worse than the original run ever did…

I did not mention it because I never noticed it, but don't I remember a glimpse of Jo Grant's (Katy Manning's) panties in Day of the Daleks?

Call up your video store or Netflix or whatever, demand that they get the Limey ready for you, and then shout "Tell him I'm coming, tell him I'm fucking coming!"

Context, my dear

Corky? He's a good kid.

I always wondered if I read that correctly—that Harvey or Two-Face had chosen rather than submitting himself to the coin. Was that evidence of effective treatment? That some of Harvey's humanity remained?

That is a common experience, to some extent even those that enjoyed it (whether "it" be the novel, the miniseries, or the recent film adaptation) find it difficult. Frankly, its understatedness and lack of obviousness is part of the pleasure. I believe if you sit back and let it wash over you, you follow better than

I suppose it has too many notes

I loved Schipisi's film, but its reviews are generally lukewarm, so I was (pleasantly) surprised to read the reviewer's esteem. ( did not care for the recent TTSS adaptation, and I thought The Spy Who Came in From the Cold is the other film masterpiece.) A Perfect Spy is generally regarded as Le Carre's best work, so

That's a tried-and-true rule: what you don't show is more effective.

They used to call that phenomenon Father-what-a-waste

if you get caught between the dancing horses you might need a little help from your friends

I still hold Eli Manning in contempt for that to this day. Eric Lindros took a ton of crap because people said his parents tried to run the show. The Manning family pushed entitlement way beyond that.
