@avclub-b327ac90601ec5904ca8e539cba62638:disqus Actually, it's pretty depressing to find out that Matilda has OCD, thanks. Now I just see her constant reading as a terrible compulsion from which she cannot escape.

    Water Tribe, duh!

Man, if there was something like Korra on when I was 6, I would have been all over that shit. I loved Ninja Turtles, which was objectively a pretty terribly-written, cheaply-animated show.  The fight scenes in Korra would have led to me injuring several of my friends trying to recreate them.

The Mountain Goats' cover of this song is still my favorite AV Undercover performance. It's not something that should work on paper, but it totally does.

I dunno, if I were Mako, I'd be making a copy of the keys to Varrick's boat before I asked out anyone else.

Yes, amnesia.  Did you not remember?

If this means that the Southern Water Tribe members are referred to as "Southies," then the show really dropped the ball by not previously establishing that the Southern Water Tribe members all speak with thick Bahwstahn Accents.

Yeah, I keep thinking of what would have happened if Korra had showed up to the Fire Nation with her identity intact:

And then later, Mako got to be an even MORE crooked cop by threatening to cut off a guy's toes with a KNIFE MADE FROM FIRE.  I'm all for gradually turning Mako into Dirty Harry.

Oh, then never mind, that makes perfect sense.  You never know when the waterbender you romantically wronged might be faster than your big boat.

Asami/Two-Toed Ping - 5.4/10 She was really looking at those feet.

I'm guessing Varrick told Asami that he would only use his controlling interest to affect company policy if she was making unwise financial decisions or something.  You know, one of those "it's still your company, it'll just be my name on the tax forms!" kind of cons. And really, as far as she knows, why wouldn't he

All of the "issues with Korra's character" were necessary for Varrick's plan to fall into place, so I'm cool with it, especially since we now know that the show is pushing Korra towards solving these issues.

There could be an interesting, spirit-based explanation for it, though.  Maybe something that hearkens back to Spirited Away, a movie where messing with the wrong spirits can cause you to be robbed of your memories.  I'm gonna give the show a little faith and say that this isn't just a standard bump-on-the-head

It's funny, I got so sucked into the Republic City intrigue that I didn't realize Korra hadn't showed up until she finally did at the very end of the episode.  One of this show's great strengths is its deep supporting cast, especially if you don't try to fit everyone in every single week.

Aargh, you're right.  Okay, hides the clothes.  Or just includes that detail in the note: "Mein men and I decided to take ein refreshing skinny-dip in some nearby springs that are very well-hidden."

Also, it's on on fucking Friday.  Because we all remember watching those Friday-night cartoons growing up, don't we?

Why have there been all these rumors about a bunch of Star Wars movies that are going to suck, but no news about whether Disney will ever be releasing re-mastered versions of the original trilogy with no CGI?

Stay tuned next summer Chris Conley's film, India: Everything Is Fine, Those Kids All Just Happened To Forget Their Lunch Money On The Same Day.
