The people who got me into watching WEEDS all moved on from it a long time ago, too.

I like the idea of Jay Pharoah doing Obama but the material and take is pretty similar to what Armisen was doing.  Those pauses are not funny.  After seeing a few YOUTUBE vids of Pharoah's Obama, I was expecting him to bring some of the same *swagger*… but his version on SNL seemed almost to be an impression of

I will.  It's undeniable the man's got great vision.  He deserves a broader audience.

It's structurally episodic.  I think it's difficult to sustain a longform narrative with his style.  Doing it all on his own, trying to keep himself interested in it.  I remember loving his shorts and then being disappointed by this feature when I saw it years ago… but it's still an amazing feat with some incredible

Yes, I was going to mention Sopranos but I didn't want to court Soprano-defender flames.  I hated those self-indulgent sequences and didn't buy them at all.  I feel like most dream sequences in film/tv have been conceptualized by people who've never had an actual dream.

There's got to be a better way to do greenscreen.  The lighting was awful.  Were all the dock scenes this poorly lit?

One of my screenwriting teachers at NYU used to advise, half-jokingly, that the way you show a female character has undergone a change is by giving her a new hairdo.  And thus in the Damages epilogue, we see Ellen with a warmer hairdo and Patty with a blonder, more severe one.  That's Patty's punishment!
