I like Louie.  It's really strange and unlike anything on the landscape.  But I have to agree with you on the female characters.  The daughters seem natural and true but so many of his romantic interests… they are all such bizarro basket cases.  The blueberries woman.  Melissa Leo bashing his head through her car

Right??  I mean, more power to them that they've managed to make a lasting relationship but they looked like each other.  Eerily so.  And there was this pervasive air of sadness about them.  When Mark got booted, it was as if Clark was having a Siamese twin severed from him.

I get it and I get that it's not impossible.  And sure, I've got DirecTV wherein I can watch East and West Coast feeds.  Not saying it's not possible.  But in the scene, Louie simply says something to the effect of "Turn to the Comedy Channel right now."
