That plot sounds like someone played a YA-themed version of Mad Libs. Just bad. (And this is coming from someone who read all the Maze Runner books.)

She's really very good in the right role. I don't know if she usually gets offered crap or wants the paycheck.

I feel like Salinger has a lot to answer for when it comes to this particular genre.

I love The Ice Storm. That last scene in the car is such a quietly devastating ending to the slow motion collapse of their assumptions about their lives.

That's a shame. I was hoping for another crazypants performance from Portman like Jackie. Not being snide- I thought she was great in Jackie but that was one go-for-broke, I-don't-care-if-I'm-likeable performance.

I'm happy that this will call attention to Butler's work but that first Wrinkle in Time trailer has me worried. It's a good cast and looks great but so far really doesn't feel like that book to me. The whole dystopian society thing only seems to get a few moments in the trailer and the three Mrs. Ws get too much. It's

What's with the weird swipe at Shawn Colvin? She's been consistently good for decades.

I've got nothing against her as a person but after seeing her in a succession of movies where she was just a blank space on screen (Pieces of April, The Ice Storm, Batman Begins) I have no interest in seeing her act.

My former boss used to say "problemasize" all the time. Not like problematize - like size up a problem. Trying to type up memos from that man was painful.

My knee jerk dislike of my parents' taste in music kept me from appreciating him when I was young but he was such a gifted musician.

The only reason I look forward to Bachelor/-ette finales is the occasional piece on them over at Monkey See, where Linda Holmes puts way too much thought into the cultural implications of reality dating shows but in a funny way.

War of the Gargantuas is one of the most crazy entertaining movies ever. RIP.

Honestly part of my problem with this episode has always been the mismatched performances - Aniston goes with raw, genuine pain while Schwimmer is in a more traditional sitcom mode for most of it, which reads like Ross disregarding how hurt Rachel is.

Hooray for Speechless. Well deserved.

I have never been less interested in an adaptation of something I love. Elba was a smart piece of casting. Other than that this just looks painfully generic.

I just finished a whole series rewatch not that long ago. Still think the first two seasons are maybe the best TV sci fi ever and the later seasons benefit from being binge-watched so that the occasional narrative dead end whizzes by (remember that cult that grew up around Baltar? still don't know where that was

You essentially did a mystery. It was called "The Woman King" and it was awful, much like "Black Market" is an awful attempt to introduce a more noir-like flavor into the show. And then there was that bad trial arc with Baltar. I love BSG, especially the first two seasons, but it wasn't always great at trying to

Roberts was OK in Coven in a part that seemed to play to her strengths but she's easily my least favorite of the recurring ensemble. I don't know if she is only able to play "snarky narcissist with a hidden streak of insecurity" or if that's the only thing Murphy wants to see her in but it gets old.

There are some not-great Ivory films (Jefferson in Paris comes to mind) but there's never been one that lacked a basic empathy and intelligence towards its characters.

He was terrific in a small movie called Miss Stevens as a student attending a drama competition with his teacher (an also-terrific Lily Rabe).
