Backderf's book was really good and Lynch does look uncannily like a young Dahmer so, sure, I'm in.

I think Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is a legitimately great film. War wasn't quite as good. I think Nova was a misstep - the filmmakers trying too hard to make it clear that Caesar isn't yet irredeemable while also nodding to the original series. Harrelson is a good actor but the part is just such a cliched…
One should never be ashamed to binge watch Degrassi.
Yeah, the rock monsters are such a weird touch but somehow fit the tone of everything else (see also Anthony Hopkins' entire performance). The intentionally jerky, graceless animation on them is kind of cool.
Finally watched Aronofsky’s Noah. I think he’s brilliant but had zero interest in watching it. The subject matter and genre didn’t help (Biblical epics are maybe my least favorite genre ever) but I’m also more of a fan of Aronofsky in intense-and-claustrophobic mode (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream, Pi). The…
I would love a new Star Trek show to be good and all of them have struggled a bit in their first seasons. My main concern here is that I genuinely have no idea what the hell is going on plot-wise. It's a little disjointed but I suppose that's inevitable for a trailer like this.
Anything is better than The Dark World, which may be the only truly bad movie that the MCU has produced so far (I mean, Iron Man 2 wasn't good but TDW was borderline incoherent and just so dull other than the obligatory and much appreciated Hemsworth fanservice). Be more fun, Thor movies. That's all you have to do. …
The freedom to criticize, satirize, and even mock our leaders is part of the first amendment. It is not a new development or a sign of decay. It is one of the foundations of our democracy.
I'm sorry, Sean, I couldn't hear your whining over the sound of children crying as their parents are deported or the worries of people about to lose access to healthcare or the endless evidence of collusion and corruption in the administration you chose to work for. Let me focus all of my attention on your feelings…
Not even my love of the early Vampire Diaries seasons and the considerable eye candy on display could get me past the first season with this show. Did it get any better?
Sliders is my go-to example of an actually pretty great premise (what if you could travel between universes where it is always the same year and the same location but something has been fundamentally altered?) that gets wasted on terrible, terrible execution.
I read an actually pretty interesting one speculating about what would have happened if Alexander the Great had lived long enough to actually build a functional empire, rather than a loose system of territorial conquests that was inevitably going to fracture at his death over fights around succession. Many of them,…
Basically it was them arguing that the modern gay rights movement destroyed "the American family." And this was in an anthology from a fairly well known genre publisher (which I'm not going to name because they don't even deserve negative publicity).
One reason I stopped reading alt-history stuff is because so much of it really does pick the most obvious and cliched points for divergence: what if the South won? what if the Nazis won? what if the Roman Empire never fell? what if the Native American tribes created a unified resistance to early colonization? Any of…
Lynch has done consistently good work for stuff like Teen Wolf, Salem, Wayward Pines, and The Walking Dead. It would be interesting to see her get a chance to really put her stamp on something.
I like AHS but it's always been more for the acting and the production values (even when the plots inevitably fall apart it invariably looks and sounds terrific). I was surprised how little I remembered of Hotel's plot once I tried to summarize it for someone else (well, there was a serial killer and vampirism and…
I have no strong feelings about Dunham but good god the Internet becomes exhausting every single time she's in something. Dunham haters, Dunham defenders, defenders of the Dunham haters, haters of the Dunham defenders . . . It's endless.
Look, I actually like Teen Wolf but most of the cast was hired for some combination of good hair, great abs, and facial symmetry (I mean, they even treat the parents as eye candy - and I'm fine with that). The idea of listening to the show without any eye candy value sounds less than promising.
R.I.P. Can't think of many artists with a legitimate claim at creating an entire modern sub-genre of fiction. The hero of almost every indie horror filmmaker who followed him. Night, Dawn, and Martin will live as long as the genre does.
Good choice. Very talented, seems like an interesting contrast with Capaldi like Capaldi was an interesting contrast with Smith. Look forward to companion casting news.
