Ughhhh… just watched an episode online (not "The Gathering" mind you), and this is damn hard to watch. The acting is atrocious, and the casting almost as bad; the direction is amateurish (and soap-opera-ish) and the writing is highly expository. And the overall design and construction quality is very low-rent.

Having just recently rewatched the first six seasons on netflix, I really appreciated the call-back to when Lily ran off to San Francisco. It was a huge moment for the show, but they've never really mentioned it since the wedding. And seeing them reference it in this episode in particular was very satisfying to me.
If Barney Stinson can hook up with a random bar chick as an 80-yr old, Don Fucking Draper can do it as an 86-yr old.
