Oooooo, I 'member!

Speaking of…BRING BACK LIVEWIRE

'Member "Hooked on a Feeling?" 'Member Han Solo? 'Member Howard the Duck?

Holt McCallany. Not…not exactly what I was hoping you'd do with your career, but hell. I'm just happy you got work.

Boy, do I feel you on that one. I spent months (monnnnths) looking for Darker Than Amber a bizarrely low budget film adaptation of John D. MacDonald's then-popular Travis McGee novels starring a perfectly cast Rod Taylor. It was, true to title, dark as hell (miles from the breezy tone many of the McGee books had) but

It stands as the high-water mark of bizarre, blaxploitation-related gifts I've received over the years.

At the risk of coming off as overly critical, I'm not sure what the point of this column is. I'd love to read a piece (particularly from I.V., whose writing I enjoy and opinion I greatly respect), but only two, maybe three paragraphs deal with the thesis outlined in the hed. The rest of it is an (admittedly colorful)

My favorite example of a hack'n'slash cuts designed to cater to the blaxploitation crowd? A VHS (which I still, proudly own) titled simply, hilariously, "G.I. Bro."

Oh, no, I totally get it. I was partially kidding. Off the top of my head, Slaughter and Willie Dynamite were the only dudes who got around swiftly. Dolemite, good lord. We watch that man driiiiiiiive.

Hey, hey, hey. I seem to recall Slaughter getting around pretty quickly. And Willie Dynamite. Less Youngblood Priest or Dolemite, though

You know it's all about Pete "The Soupman" Campbell.

Wither Octopussy? He disarms a bomb in a circus dressed as a fucking clown. I hate that movie with a passion that borders on mania.

For me, only two are worse than License to Kill: Madonna's and the inexplicably popular "Nobody Does It Better." Though, now, I guess I'd have to throw the Spectre theme in the same mix.

So, you're saying…the movie only appears personal if read with that already in mind?

At the risk of being pedantic [too laaaaaate] if it is Ordell's fuck-up, to communicate that clearly shouldn't it be set up, or have someone call him on it? As it stands, in the scene, it tracks and his audience (admittedly, Louis, who probably doesn't know shit about guns) buys it. If he were making a point about

That said, ludicrous Transformer sniper rifle made out of a Super 8 camera? Good!

Theme song? AWFUL.

So sexy, so terrifying. She's the American Stephanie Corneliussen

I noticed that too. I'm thinking it's because ersatz Talia al-Ghul made a real heavy impression on ol' Sara. Compared to rich doofus era Ollie Queen, who can blame her?

Oh haythere Supermahhn, Ah've got something to discuss with yeeewwwwwww
