Totally agree on P&P. Cameraman was on tv in England a month ago, followed by a showing of Black Narcissus. Really great afternoon's entertainment. If you can get hold of his book Magic Hour it's very worth a read. Seems like he was a fine human being.

If ever a man deserved
the AV Club's prestigious Lifetime Pass it was Jack Cardiff. Probably the best cinematographer ever.

Is there
a "Why Miss Portman, without your glasses you're beautiful!" moment?

They already made the American version.
It starred Rodney Dangerfield.

I'll be seeing this at the cinema
because my girlfriend went to watch 13 Assassins with me as long as I agreed to go to this with her. So I'm relieved it sounds quite good and doesn't involve any character who could be played by Katherine Heigl.

Y'know
Some of these chicks were kind of cute.

It seems quite common for directors to get tough with child actors when trying to coax a performance out of them. I've seen it happen when Stephen Frears scared the shit out of a kid during the filming of Mary Reilly. The weird thing was her mother standing to the side of the production looking on encouragingly as her

Sam Adams referred to S:TOTD as a "jobbie". In Bonnie Scotland that refers to a turd -it ain't all tartan and shortbread, folks! Does it have the same meaning in Chicago?

Songs pertaining to the Pope? I thought Lupe batted for the other team.

What's with
all the cats in these films? Did Art Carney refuse to get involved in any non-cat related projects? And -it's been a few years since I've seen it- isn't one of Gould's last lines about his cat? Can't remember them turning up in Night Moves though.

It's not a work of genius, admittedly. But it's still better than most mainstream comedies out there. HF and SOTD were small budget movies, this isn't exactly Avatar money, they clearly felt the need to turn the quirkiness down but it still isn't a Wild Hogs level of unfunnyness.

I'm intrigued to know
who was on the executives' list for Paul's voice. Is Robin Williams still a shoo-in for these gigs?

May Roy Clark ram his banjo up your cornhole, Bela.

Craig, stick to Farewell, My Lovely. The Big Sleep isn't one of Michael Winner's worst movies, but it's still rubbish.

Famous Grouse Black Label is a good starter for malts. It's a blend of malts as opposed to a single but gives a fair indication of whether you'd like the style without breaking the bank. For a good blend I'd recommend Bailie Nicol Jarvie if you can find it. Stay away from Teachers and Bells, they're both shit. But

I almost hate to bring it up
but has anyone else seen Tinto Brass' version? Updated to WW2 and called Black Angel, but absolutely ham-fisted, the worst kind of auterism, with absolutely no swooning romance or visual lushness. It does however feature copious nudity, but usually of people you'd rather keep their clothes

You forgot to mention
that Alain Delon's lady friend was played by Sylvia Kristal (sign it was made in 1979), probably her only known foray into mainstream acting.

The Swarm's definitely the greatest bad '70's disaster movie. 2nd place belongs to When Time Ran Out, a film that could count as either a MYOF or a FTTF entry.

He should just adapt
Flashman And The Angel Of The Lord. It worked well enough with Jackie Brown. Brad Pitt could be a decent Flashy.
