You like being surprised by Nicholas Hoult? Weirdo.
I was hoping
Nic would bring his manic self to this. He was relentlessly po-faced and disinterested in Season Of The Witch allowing Ron Perlman to just saunter off with the movie. Looks like Will Fichtner's going to do the same here. He really needs to get his Bad Lieutenant mojo working again.
Also, the original story's already pretty dark. Various giants get their throats cut, there's disembowelling, a stabbing up the arse and beheadings -one by a moat/drawbridge combo.
Jack The Giant Killer
is probably based on Jack The Giant Killer rather than Jack And The Beanstalk. Clue's in the name, Sean.
I'd've added
The Tenant, Polanski's 70's thriller, to this list if more than three films were allowed.
Ah yes, Benvolio's death scene. Do you mean Mercutio's, Uni? And Romeo's murder of the blameless Paris always gets cut, because it shows what an absolute fuckwit Romeo is.
Hadn't even heard
of this documentary, thanks for the article. I was idly wondering whatever happened to Bill Withers the other day while listening to his awesome song Harlem.
I went to a showing of Robin And Marian on Sunday. I sung the praises of John Barry to my girlfriend afterwards. First thing we saw on Monday was that he'd died. Bummer.
Shit no, he's not a patch on his old man. Even his brother can act him off the screen.
The Fred Ward TV movie
Cast A Deadly Spell was probably the original of these hybrid detective fantasy shows. Haven't seen it for years but I remember it being pretty good.
Why
isn't this an adaptation of the great 2000AD superhero series? The one whose creators described the lead character as Rick Astley with superpowers? Damn you internet for slightly raising my hopes once again.
With all the lovely things
being said about Big Ron on this comment board I think it's time to dub him America's Judi Dench.
He gives it a Glasgow Kiss. Or lays the nut on it, if you will. Yes, he headbutts the fucker.
I saw Season Of The Witch
a few days ago and Ron is definitely the best thing about it. He nuts a demon, which is just awesome. You should really try to get a Random Roles with him, great actor and a classy guy.
Well, that is marvelous news! Now get back downstairs where I don't have to see your cancerAids ridden face.
I agree with Under Capricorn -what was he thinking?- but I Confess is both underrated and contains Monty Clift.
It's Nic
Cage's birthday today, it's also my birthday. I'll be seeing this later, even though it looks utter shite.
It's a tortoise, kids. And you've all failed biology.
