As someone trying to make a living off of art in Singapore, I definitely echo the sentiment in your second paragraph. Our movie scene is particularly horrible. (Did you hear about Sex, Violence & Family Values, by the way?)

Mule porn.

What do you think of the detractors of this movie, who claim it to be staged? I don't buy it, but I recently saw someone on here refer to the "morons who believe American Movie was real", like its fakeness was the most obvious thing in the world.

That little scene is, hands-down, the scariest thing King ever wrote. I'm sure I think about it at least twice a month, and I read it like 15 years ago.

"Music and medicine really, my thing is combining the two. And living in that place where they overlap. A lot of people say it shows up in the music, but I don't know."

@Scrawler2:disqus See my main post. It got released in the UK last June, and is probably available on DVD. No plans of a US release.

I thought the abrupt nature of the sci-fi reveal in Rant was kind of the point; I really liked it, anyway.

The Inbetweeners movie is good enough; I love the show, and I found the movie to be a decent finale: 7 out of 10-territory. Its gets bogged down in some extremely implausible romantic pairings towards the end, but the comedy is generally just as good as in the TV show.

Like I said when I wrote about it here: you really have to have a high tolerance for the twee to watch it, but due to the strengths of Park's direction it becomes absolutely charming. Also, the female lead is goddamn adorable. (The male lead is Mr. Ninja Assassin.)

You've been fucking a hell of a lot more since you got hit by that van, though.

Or walking into a giant floating ham!

Great! And yes, that scene is a classic; almost a rake gag in terms of how horribly fucked up he gets by those trains. And it's not cartoonish comedy injuries, either: the damage looks pretty realistic, except for the fact that he's still alive and walking.

By "straight faced" you mean that the comedy is completely deadpan, right? Because it is a really funny film, and definitely intended to (partially) be a comedy.

It might happen off-screen and be nothing but a filthy lie, but Tom Waits' claims to Iggy Pop in Coffee & Cigarettes are still pretty impressive:

Thirst is most definitely his weakest movie, in my opinion. The vengeance trilogy is amazing, Oldboy especially.

"Group showers or the army"?

So THAT'S why Batman crammed that fishbowl into his pants.

Did you watch Duck Dynasty just to spite Morrissey?

Juanito is probably the AV Club member with the most direct experience of this.
