Depends.
Yeah, but that's not really what a bachelor(ette) party is, is it? The whole point of one is that it's a naughty and sexy last hurrah.
Dan doesn't like bachelorette parties because he's seen a few of them go to gay bars and basically treat the dudes there like huge Ken dolls that you can do whatever you want with. In general he's against bachelor(ette) parties because it has this implied meaning that once you're married, that's it, the fun is over so…
I'm surprised Dan didn't pull some "you aren't really monogamous, you've
just been brainwashed" shit, as he often does to people who really are
genuinely interested in monogamy.
Yeah, actually the stuff that was meant to be kind of light and comedic really irked me. Reminded me too much of Pratchett, come to think of it, which was jarring since I thought Gaiman was supposed to be this gothic, dark dude.
If you love dystopian/utopian shit, try The Left Hand of
Darkness. It has some really nice ideas about the most common tropes of the genre, especially the way gender is handled in utopia, actually sci-fi in general.
I was going to be very disappointed if this wasn't the first comment.
I didn't like Coraline because it was for younger readers, I found that interplay of weird fantasy and reality really intriguing and thought it would work for anyone. That unfortunately wasn't the case with Anansi Boys.
If you say sci-fi/fantasy/dystopia written by women authors, I immediately think Atwood and LeGuin. What have you read by them?
Sorry, tried Neverwhere on audiobook, more or less hated it.
I got The Bridge by Iain Banks for Christmas and devoured it in two days. It was my second read but I was surprised I remembered so little of it. Still spectacular. I'm on the last page of Look to Windwards and it's also very good. So yeah, I guess I'm a big ole Banks fanboy.
If
my opinions offend you, or if you can't keep up with the conversation, you dare to disagree with me then you can kindly fuck off.
But you don't understand! All good music was made either in or by le glorious '90's!
Yes, that's good. There are two popular artists out there that you don't like. Run to the hills.
Yes there were, but not a lot.
Cosby never asked for permission, why should you?
Well that sucks.
First episode is out tomorrow! Although it's just a six episode season.
As a white guy, I no longer feel comfortable going to the theatre
