Not to mention Marty is still a cop and Cohle is just a citizen at this point.

I thought there would be a lot more tenderness. Try a little tenderness Rusty.

I don't think so bud. If Marty's daughter had been kidnapped and murdered at some point it would have been touched on by now, either with Marty or with Maggie during the interviews. This is not the kind of show to deliberately hide something like that.

Yeah, I doubt even she was labouring under any false illusions that a relationship with him would ever work, but it's not hard to see why she would be attracted to him. For one, he's the polar opposite of Marty in every way.

Exactly. People are so obsessed with the idea that writing should be unpredictable and void of "cliches" that they get upset when the natural and the inevitable happen. Personally I've known Rust would end up fucking Maggie at some point since he went to their house for dinner the first time, but that's a good thing

Seriously, Marty's lucky he's a cop and not a criminal because that dude is like the least sly motherfucker on the planet. He's like a kid eating all the cookies and then denying it with chocolate all over his face.

That "On second though why don't you buy me the beer." line was hilarious. Rust can't help but bitch Marty down at every possible opportunity, even after fucking his wife. He really has no respect for that guy.

When Marty gave Beth the money at the whorehouse and told her to do something else with her life, Rust asked "Is that a down payment?" Funnily enough, it kind of was, in a long term round about way.

Exactly, and she flipped right when Rust asked if the scars were on his face, and then motioned over his own face to ask "Here?" At that moment she must have seen the Tall Man.

Because he's a human being, not some kind of superhero. I think that was part of the point of the scene.

Hell no… this is definitely a show about men. I don't know if two female characters even speak to each other once? Even in the whorehouse it was nothing but silent glances between the madame and Beth.

He wouldn't go on a rant about that because it wouldn't have registered. Those boys read the situation perfectly when they apologized for disrespecting him and not knowing he was a cop. That's exactly who it was about - Marty and his pride, not his daughter.

Her name was Lisa. Don't you besmirch those boobs.

Yeah that was kind of silly. In 10 years he doesn't get his tail light fixed?

Well, when he's dealing with a possible organization of serial murderers and child rapists that everyone else seems content to turn a blind eye to, you can see why he would believe he's not the crazy one.

What you see as cliche, I see as the natural path of the story. The writers aren't trying to be overly clever and constantly think up the most out of left field scenario possible, they are telling a story and following its natural momentum. This macho struggle between Marty and Rust has been building since the

Exactly… she could have gone for the guy in the bar, or anyone else, but she chose Rust because she knew it would hurt Marty more, with no concern for the reprecussions on Rust. I don't necessarily think that makes her a bad person but it was a major dick move.

I'm just glad we won gold in Russia this year and in Canada 4 years ago and both times the Russian's didn't even make it past the quarter final.

For some reason I keep watching it even though it has bored me to tears for a long time now. In fact, I usually fast forward through most of it. I guess I just want to know the major plot points for some reason (HA! Major plot points?) It is truly the definition of mediocre television.

It doesn't have to be original to be moving.
