So Phipps beat on, boat against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

Coming off my college-era class on Viking, Germanic and Norse lit, that came to my mind in a big way.

The cover of "Satisfaction," on that note. I think it's supposed to sound like the song as conceived by a hardcore psychotic, and delivers fully on that promise.

Good to see someone doing justice to a quite underrated role and play, as well. That scene where Titus, in mourning, addresses the flagstones is one of the best in the history of drama, for my money.

I was pretty sure that I had read that Anthony Hopkins pretty much only does movies for the money at this point, by his own admission. Has he renounced this attitude? If I were him, I'd be more than hesitant to slap on the makeup for a low-budg biopic at this point in his career.

Eric Clapton is still awesome, it just depends who he's playing with. I saw him in a huge room a couple years ago when he had Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall as his side guitarists…they played all the Derek and the Dominoes stuff with Trucks doing the Duane Allman lines, and it was fucking skin-crawlingly excellent.
