I think I've talked to you about the Tobe Hooper version of Salem's Lot in the past, and how great it is; like Stand By Me and Shawshank, I think the adaptation was way better than King's source material (those are the three that stand out- more often than not the adaptations haven't done his work justice).

Three great flicks, for sure. Stand By Me really holds up; seeing it as a kid 25 years ago, then seeing it again 16 years ago, and then re-watching it a couple of years ago all seemed to add layers to the story. 25 years ago it was "LOL puking"; now I see it as a meditation on loss and growing up (plus "LOL puking").

"Whaddaya, a Jewish person? A fat chick? A Jewish fat chick?"

Poehler and Fey conveyed a lot of the same sentiments, and they did it by using their words. Amy Schumer says it all the time in her act- ironically when she hosted SNL it was almost like they defanged her comedy (but having Leslie Jones scream for a couple of minutes on WU or in every couple of sketches makes it

Can you ask them to bring True Crime back to io9? That and their Superlists were pretty entertaining.

Her Game of Thrones recaps are awesome- she's the best. I've always hoped that she would jump ship from io9 to here, especially since Gawker re-organized their masthead and combined it with Gizmodo (two good sites with some overlapping interests, but just not as good on one platform). Plus, Gawker.

That article was some kind of bullshit. The New Yorker's vaunted fact checkers must've just given up after trying to figure out how they could work around that hagiography; also, nice job with being the hypeman for Jones, Marantz. It did nothing to dispel the criticisms of Jones (she's loud, she's one-note, and she

It was good to see Miller and Purcell team up again- I liked Prison Break, and it seemed to recapture one of the stronger parts of that show, the brother's dynamic.

That makes sense; same in State College- there's a pretty good chance to see things that bigger cities in PA wouldn't have.

Didn't Betty White get to host SNL because of that, or am I just thinking of the FB/Twitter rage mob?

YOU'RE LYCRA-LEVEL STRETCHY

I like to think that it's a beta version of Bryan Fuller's Hannibal. The dynamic between Hopper and Ganz is very much like Mikkelsen and Dancy; like you said, it's really more about Ganz- not unlike how the series focused at times more on Will Graham as the main. What is clear is how a sociopath seems to target an

Isn't it, though? All great bands (well, you know) that are now part of the Establishment. That doesn't diminish them to me in any way (Gen Xers are now where the Boomers were), but when there are nothing but eulogies and retrospectives of Lemmy (though not as much is mentioned about his collection of Third Reich

Yeah, he's more like a job coach in the UK version - he genuinely seems to care about the restaurants doing well.

THAT WAS A MICROAGGRESSION, METH LAB

: The C-word doesn't count if said in a British accent.

The Gilbert Arenas Story AKA every 30 for 30/15 for 15 on ESPN which involves an athlete who was huge in the 80s/90s/00s and isn't named Jordan or LeBron.

Nah, just likening the two- both shows seem to be OK with having the bad guys not die in a hail of bullets. Homeland seems to be the first show in recent history where not only is it OK that the antagonists get away with it (and not in a cliffhanger sense); other shows seem to be picking up on their example.

Ooooh, uh, we don't really talk about the S-show because of the, urhm, unpleasantness that was engendered in the Great Flame War of 2011 and the occasional flare-ups in '12 and '14.

He probably cues up the Edgar Winter Group on his stereo when he does it, just to get the full effect.
