Maybe Bear's son, the one cooling his heels in Rock County's police station, has half-a-chance now that he's rid of his toxic family.

I liked the downbeat ending. Borrowing a page from Homeland, sometimes the bad guys survive, and even thrive, rather than getting their just desserts. Mike Milligan was a fantastic villain, but a villain all the same, and while he did get Mackey'd at the end, in Fargo's world, being alive is its own reward. The

You hit the nail on the head, and thank you for expounding on my (too short) thesis statement. The fact that SP still seems to care about what is being out out there, as opposed to the Simpsons, which is running on the fumes of a lot of goodwill for episodes that mostly were from the last century, is pretty amazing.

Yep- between Fargo, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, Arkin is practically a shareholder in FX dramas.

My Top 10:

Plus, Hawley veered into Elmore Leonard territory when Milligan was toying with the goon from Buffalo- the setpiece was straight from some of the better seasons of Justified, which was great.

What, you don't follow SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMMMMSSSS
since he joined the Atlantic's masthead? For shame!

Probably said already elsewhere, but was hoping for an The Onion Field mention.

Pretty much whatever Mark is involved in- "Black Rock", "Jeff, Who Lives At Home", "Cyrus"; she's a less-annoying Leslie Mann, basically.

Mike had to have said "Well, that knot sure untied itself".

That, and "Well, it's been a day!" Lots of great line-readings in this ep.

This episode was reminiscent of the late, lamented (by me, at least) earlier Showtime show: Sleeper Cell.

- The Morgan/Carol throwdown was reminiscent of the Hound vs Brienne- two great characters that were both right and wrong, fighting an utterly and resoundingly useless battle.

WOOO! WOOO! WOOO!

It's akin to the Kurosawa/Mifune split, though not nearly as public- there's probably a great movie in that story itself.

That line works on a couple of levels- it's so meta regarding Stallone, because after Copland, it's like he decided "Fuck 'em, I'll make another Rambo movie then".

Nicholson was good, but what knocked him down a notch in my estimation was that he bullied his way through the Bulger character; that scene in the adult movie theater where he pulled the dildo on Damon was entirely his creation, and not something that reportedly Scorsese wanted.

Absolutely. The Aviator is a pretty underrated film, and it has a ton of layers to it.
