I think its a little soon for this World of Flops.  2 weeks on home video doesn't give the perspective even 2 years does nevertheless decades.  This one is a bit too much like navel gazing.  Did Disney request this one?

@avclub-63706c2231765ca840e9a60a76fae00a:disqus Ingmar Bergman was never appealing to me.  I know his cinematography is amazing, but neither the emotional nor the cerebral ever hit in his movies.  They're like the gigantic oil paintings where other people ooh and ahh over the technique, but they never really grab you.

Actually, painting artists used to do this all the time.  They'd see a work and make it in their own style as commentary on the original.  This was generally seen most frequently when the style changes were happening, i.e. from romanticism to impressionism or whatever.

I preferred the real life version where the habitual liar ended up getting a guy shot and another in jail.

This scene would have been rivaled by BB Rachel's post-sled victory dance…had BB Rachel not been so despicable a person.
