The 'how so' was @Jorge Von Salsa.

Well, what kinds of stories do you generally enjoy? Because I think that the combined geekery in this thread will be able to give you some suggestions for just about any interest you might have.

How so?

Starman
Not a great entry point into comics, but if you ever get in deep with superhero comics, one that you owe it to yourself to check out is James Robinson's STARMAN, which is among the greatest superhero stories ever told. It combines an extraordinarily well-planned out narrative with great characterization and

I don't know - there was a guy who refused to read Gaiman's Sandman until he could track down the old Wesley Dodds Golden Age Sandman stories because… well, obviously, you wouldn't start a novel in the middle of a chapter, so why start reading about Sandman and ignore 50 years of Sadnamn stories, right?

I don't know if I'd recommend starting people on 'Ultimates', largely because the action-movie style combined with the breezy, violent cynicism really doesn't sit well with a some people.

The last JLA arc - World War III - is the standard that action comics should hold themselves to, so I have to disagree that it was lackluster. 'Here Comes Tomorrow', though, was definitely a weird way to wrap up an otherwise pretty stellar run on New X-Men.

… Cerebus really isn't the best introduction to comics at all, let alone to superhero comics.

Dina Meyer
To my eternal embarrassment, I can't think of Dina Meyer without thinking of… BIRDS OF PREY.

The client's this season haven't been quite as memorable, for the most part, as the first season's… but given that last week's episode might be the best Burn Notice episode to date, and there's been a lot of genuine goodness on all facets throughout the season, I'm willing to forgive this slip-up.

Emotionalitiness
The reason terminal illness is generally such a contrived, shitty plot device is because it often leads to contrived, shitty emotions. While it tends to be the go-to device of writers of contrived, shitty movies, any movie such filmmakers made would, in all probability, be both contrived and shitty.

Isn't Bruce Campbell kind of the man in EVERY one? Dude's hardcore.

Well, babe by 'real people' standards. Not so much by superperson standards.

@Eddard

It's hard to justify the death of the Question as a sales stunt. Why would killing a no-name character and replacing him with a no-name character generate sales? They did it because it was a really solid story from start to finish, and has opened up even more really fun stories. I doubt Renee could hold her own

Prison Wine does indeed win.

Indeed
I look forward to viewing this assuredly sensible piece of non-fiction about social networking sites.

Psh. Starz would fuck up Cinemax. Seriously - you want to take out Starz, you can't settle for that softcore shit.

Eh. I've never honestly paid attention to it. They have enough money to do awesome shit on a budget. It doesn't matter how awesome the shit is, they will do it on a budget.

I hate everything.
