Though sometimes people in lead roles are submitted for a supporting category when it's seen as being more open (i.e. someone in the lead actor field is hoovering up every award going), or because of their age (which is why Keisha Castle-Hughes and Quvenzhane Wallis being up for Best Actress has been so notable).

Her character in Bridesmaids is hardly portrayed as a disgusting pig. And many of the other, slimmer characters in Bridesmaids weren't exactly immune from shitting/vomiting or being horny.

Shawkat had small roles in Damsels in Distress and Ruby Sparks too. Neither were massive films of course but was cool to see her pop up in both.

Really? I don't think her characters in Zoolander and Dodgeball are 'buzzkill' types, certainly nothing like, say, Leslie Mann in Knocked Up or most female roles in Adam Sandler films.

I like this on early listens. Yes, you can argue that Eels have been doing minor variations on Beautiful Freak and Electroshock Blues ever since they came out (and End Times/Tomorrow Morning were definitely their weakest records to date in my opinion) but it works for me somewhat. I'd rank their albums:

'Los locos kick your ass. Los locos kick your face. Los locos kick your balls INTO OUTER SPACE!'

So it's like an R-rated Lifetime movie or something?

I've heard of some strange parallel universe where Al Pacino never won any Oscars for his work in the first two Godfather films, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon etc, but got his only one for going into full 'Hooah!' mode in Scent of a Woman. Just as well we had more sense in this universe, right? Right?!

Sea Lion was a fantastic album, sad to see them lose all that initial promise over the next two records.

The Fabulous Baker Boys is probably Pfeiffer at her sexiest.

'Finally, Bart's one of us!'

I look forward to the video where a young woman in a cafe enters a comic world to be with Julian Casablancas.

And here's the somewhat barmy video for the single:

Dumb and Dumber is more than watchable, it's still hilarious. Kingpin and There's Something About Mary are very funny too. They've definitely been on a steep downward slope since then.

Ang Lee? Milos Forman? Polanski? (OK that last one worked out well in a film making sense anyway). Wolfgang Peterson has had a reasonably successful career in the USA I guess, though the quality of his films varies somewhat.

'Ah, piss on you, I'm working for Mel Brooks!'

All I know is this whole business makes his (pretty funny) cameo in Dodgeball really weird to see now.

I think they were asking 'is it good dumb party music' and their answer was 'no'.

Look forward to this - though I will say I prefer It's Never Been Like That to Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.

That final season of Roseanne - the horror…the horror…
