Roseanne's version of the Anthem is probably my favorite. Her glee at the boos cracks me up every time. But even my cynical ass likes Whitney Houston's version. Christ, that lady could sing. She makes that stuffy song seem so joyful and heartfelt.

I really love Alaric so I wouldn't make that swap. I might trade the other three just for Klaus and Elijah though.

Nooooooooooooooo!

@avclub-808e22af6c33eea22608f30cef458844:disqus  I almost wonder if you know my father, he used to spend a lot of time at Gizmo's in the late 70s/early 80s and frequented Joe Tess's (my mother grew up in south Omaha).

I'm also concerned for Alaric. I hope that its just an issue with the ring and not that something weird has happened to him.

Elena doesn't always think straight, but I buy that Klaus could just take the dagger (since it is sitting right in front of him) and Elena couldn't do jack about it.  He wouldn't even have to really hurt her to take it.

Do not even say that. Alaric is my favorite!

So so good. Really enjoyed Elena's character development in this episode. I wonder about the ghost Mason thing though. Who brought him back? Is he really a ghost or is there some other juju going around?

About halfway through Season 1 Vampire Diaries just gets ridiculously good and Season 2 is even better. I'm so excited for tonight's Vampire Diaries. The last episode was so bananas, I keep wondering how they'll top it. They're going to have to blow up the entire town or something for the season finale at the rate

I think that there are two rings (one from Elena's uncle/birth dad and another from her dad/birth uncle). Jeremy has one and Elena gave the other one to Alaric because it won't work for her (being the doppelganger makes her supernatural?).

I saw these guys live. They can certainly sing better than Aykroyd and Belushi (although that's not saying much) but anytime they tried to joke with the audience it was pretty awkward. I might have seen a bad performance joke-wise, but if they aren't funny and are still out sung by their backup singer I don't know how

I don't know if Greene forgot so much as he was very inconsistent. I can think of three female characters in Greene's work that are well drawn 1) Sarah in the End of the Affair 2) Ida in Brighton Rock (I would argue Rose less so but at least he pays attention to her) and 3) Aunt Augusta in Travels with My Aunt

It would be super-weird if you struck up conversations with kids about the new Batman, but I'm not sure that's what, say the Twi-moms, are doing. They have their own forums online and everything.

Yeah, but if you read the article, her point is that that kind of fandom (Twilight, older women who like Bieber) is inherently nostalgic because it reminds women of their childhood fandoms.

The Quirk, did you see Be Kind Rewind?

I actually prefer Rutherford's Miss Marple to the Miss Marple of the books. When I get old I want to be her version of Miss Marple, complete with cape, chemistry set and librarian boyfriend. I'm not sure how my husband will feel about this and I'll need to learn how to fence and ride a horse, but I've got time.

I agree, especially about the werewolves. The vampires are so much more fun than the wolves!

Linkin Park is pretty harmless compared to Korn and Limp Bizkit. I was in high school at the time Korn and Limp got big and I hated them and the Dbags that listened to them. Maybe they would have appealed to me more if I was male, but man Limp Bizkit especially just enraged me. Screw those entitled jerks. If a guy

Superman is boring and manliness is overrated. Thank you and good night!

I'm also pleased by the write up. In addition to the pretty people (a CW staple) I find the morality of this show fascinating. Since vampires aren't default evil, killing them is more of a moral gray area. Plus people in this show are likely to ignore all the collateral damage their actions have if it saves people
