Yes, in real life Lovitz is probably awful to be around, but I love a great deal of his work (Critic, 87-92 SNL, Simpsons, etc.). This is one of those hate the artist, love the art kind of things, but more annoying than controversial.

That episode is wonderful, and worth watching. Even better is listening to the DVD commentary which includes John Lovitz. The best part is when Susie Dietter, the director, publicly outs herself to get Lovitz to stop hitting on her.
