Although unlike Maher, Bell hasn't won the Emmy for Most Punchable Face on Television for 20 years running.

I'd love to see Hodgman make occasional appearances on Wilmore's show.

I can definitely see Wilmore continuing to focus on how the media represents and treats people of color as the main part of his shtick, but I can see him mixing it up some as well.

His field pieces definitely remind me of the show circa about 10 years ago — more smirky than self-righteous. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

This really is the best possible choice to replace Colbert. Wilmore is a tremendously sharp and funny guy who will, like Colbert, benefit from having "The Daily Show" as a lead-in and retain a lot of its viewing audience. It's also a great victory in terms of increasing the representation of people who aren't white

I'd say:

Have you stopped to consider that maybe you're overreacting?

Eh, it wasn't that much worse than S3, which was really inconsistent and rarely truly brilliant after its return from hiatus. I think there's a tendency to overlook some of the really crappy S3 episodes and overrate even some of the pretty good ones just because of how happy we were that NBC didn't cancel it outright

Even Chevy Chase was missed this past season (and in the S4 episodes he couldn't be bothered to film). It would have been fun to see Pierce and Hickey bounce off of each other.

Yeah, it was even called "Introduction to Finality". I mean, how perfect is that?

Kind of ironic, right?

The cast doesn't seem terribly upbeat.

S5 was a lot more consistent than S4, but its best episode ("App Development and Condiments") was only about as good as an average episode of S1. Which still makes it a great half-hour of television, mind, but it was pretty obvious the show wasn't hitting its former heights.

I'm actually kind of okay with this, considering cancellation came about two seasons too late.

…Russia?

I also like playing with its "dark side" and bondage.

"Digital Estate Planning" is the only post-S2 episode in my personal top 10 (and in fact my top 5), so whatever.

Yippie-ki-yay.

"The One Where They Built the Forts and Had a Battle"

I mean, I'm pretty sure he just went to the men's restroom, removed his shirt, and put a paper toilet seat cover over his head.
