I think in some ways Finch agreed - to a small extent, perhaps - with a sliver of what Root was saying; he certainly treats and talks to the machine as if it were a real person, almost as if it were his child (in the flashbacks), so I think there's a part of him that might have been moved by what she said to some

True, the lost-love angle is there, which actually adds some richness to their backstory.  I'd be a little surprised if he gets with Zoe, though I suppose given her position on the show I wouldn't be too surprised or upset.  I just don't see them - and am happy they haven't - doing the silly drawn-out stuff that shows
