I would like to take the time to point out that your theory kind of blows mine out of the water and considering this show, I completely agree with you.

This week cemented one thing for me. While the show is growing up with things like the Margret/CJ stuff like it has been the past season or two, they still know how to go for broke with the insanity, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't love it.

I do think that the subtext of the two of them being involved was definitely there, but more on the literal side I got the impression that back in the day Amethyst was jealous of Greg and Rose and tricked him into thinking she was Rose, maybe before Greg knew the gems could shape shift or something.
