If this thread is an attempt to tell the most depressing TV marathon story, I believe you have won.

I remember doing a depression marathon of Freaks and Geeks. It wasn't clinical depression in my case. I just had lost my girlfriend, job and apartment in rapid succession. I was crashing on a too-generous friend's couch while I delayed pulling my sorry ass together and watched his DVD collection.

My 1992 girlfriend liked to put the Depeche Mode's Songs of Devotion and Faith on during sex. After we broke-up, I remember drunkenly having sex with my female best friend to Tom Wait's Night on Earth. If one of us broke up while the other was single, it had become an unspoken ritual by then.

Despite that, I think it completely embodied the zeitgeist of 1992. It was truly ahead of it time.

Given that is an adaptation of a 1984 play, it kind of fails the "set in 1992" test.

I was, for the most part, too hip to read superhero comics at the time. Fortunately, I got over it. I do have one memorable superhero memory from 1992 though. It was the year I finally had a friend lend me the elusive, out-of-print Miracleman, both the Moore and Gaiman runs. I think I read it all in a single sitting.

Brain Dead (AKA Dead Alive) is one of the most unique movies of the year. I'm not sure it had anything special to say about 1992 though. That means that Lawnmower Man, with it's terrible attempt to tap into cyberpunk, is more deserving of a place here. Not that I would ever want actually watch it again though.

Yeah, as someone that was 20 in 1992, giving the year far more significance to me than it deserves, I have to say I have been underwhelmed with what we got this week. This feature nailed it though.

It I were able to pick one movie not set in 1992 for the list, this would be the one. The vampire fad of the '90s was just beginning to pick up steam and would soon lead to people playing Masquerade in night clubs without shame. I remember a lot of Anne Rice books circulating at this time as well.

@avclub-77a30f3aed77aef3d4ed12bf43df6964:disqus I did, in fact, play those eight-player clusterfucks. That's why I know it's really a two player game.
