NoMeansNo albums would be a bad idea to begin with, but there's a run of songs on the 'Dance of the Headless Bourgeoisie' album that would be particularly horrifying. See: title track, 'The World Wasn't Built in a Day' and 'The Rape', among others. Also, 'Dad'.

Perfect generally seems like its the highest regarded BtS album, but for whatever reason I never picked it up during the height of my fandom. Now I like it well enough, but it's rare that I'd listen to it ahead of Nothing Wrong or Secret.

I quite like Ancient Melodies as well. I recently read a comment about 'The Weather' not being particularly interesting, which, sure. Counterpoint: when I was 20 and involved in a cross-country long distance relationship, it was difficult to imagine a lyric more perfect / cutting than 'as long as it's talking to you /

Good version of 'Rum to Whiskey'!
Their cover of 'Lounge Act' is also worth checking out.

I think it's appropriate to once again thank all the Podmass commenters who championed the Flophouse! It's certainly the reason I checked it out in the first place. Now it's my turn to take up the mantle in the form of wearing the t-shirt they put up for pre-order.

Right now 'Relatively Easy' has my vote for song of the year. Man alive, what a great lyricist. 'Songs She Sang in the Shower' is also really, really good.

As a kid, trips to Calgary's Bullwinkle-themed family fun centre was always a huge treat. Sure, the animatronic stage show would break down every now and again and the arcade was dark and chaotic, but overall I think they captured the spirit of the show. Alas, I think the location houses a sports bar now.

The last two songs on Lonesome Crowded West would get my vote. 'Bankrupt on Selling' is great.

Yes, address please. A career retrospective sounds interesting.

Irving diner!?

As much as I like reading the reviews and comments about the Flophouse on Podmass, I'm always a little sad that it signals that the upcoming weekend won't include the release of a new episode. Not that I'm asking for faster turnaround between episodes - I think the bi-weekly schedule works well in preventing both host

Not sure how accurate a source this is, but, it delves into the spin those responsible chose to put on the story and why the segment was retained:

Agreed - I left that one alone for such a long time due to a fairly dire allmusic review, but the album is really good. Different than most of their discography, sure, but not quite the stab at commercial success I'd been lead to believe.

I drove from Halifax to New York in 2008 to see the original lineup perform two shows over the weekend. The afternoon of the first show, a friend-of-a-friend who was showing
us around inadvertently had us exit the subway at the wrong stop. When we realized we were not where she'd intended to take us, we milled around

Fear of Music gets a huge bump from "Memories Can't Wait", probably my favourite song of theirs.

Local H mentioned on page 1 of the comments - huzzah!

Just an FYI, Local H recorded a studio version of 'Wolf Like Me' that ended up on their 'Awesome Mixtape Vol. 1'.

Tim gets an instant pass into that tier of guests on the basis of his past couple appearances - Ching Chong Matinee / ongoing terrible Star Trek impressions and the videocast with the Who stories and awful George Burns impression. The ongoing bit between him and Scott about how little Tim enjoys being a guest plays

The Floppers are two-for-two in delivering classic episodes these past few weeks.

Hmmm, excited to hear that one of my favourite vocalists in Jaz Coleman may be involved, but don't really give much of a hoot as to his collaborators. Jaz has gone through a few vocal styles in his career, but he has certainly never yarled.
