Maybe I'm a bad person, but somehow the idea of a job writing copy-cat books has a certain funny appeal. You get to write stuff without torturing yourself over quality, be cynical about it, and still get paid.

I'm right there with the Wile E. Coyote sympathy
Tom and Jerry had that same "damn it, just let this guy get a win!" effect. So the reveal at the end of Chimes was just crushing when I saw it. I'd completely bought into the idea that 6 really had escaped, but then no, nothing had changed at all…

My parents very thoughtfully owned collections of Calvin & Hobbes, the Far Side and Doonesbury. I read them all over and over, to the point where seeing a familiar strip will take me right back to childhood. It's pretty weird to read the Doonesbury strips and actually understand them, too.

Mesh Jeans
Someone explain? First I have heard of them, and I'm sure as hell not Googling the words "mesh jeans" at work.

Munchausen is a weird, weird movie, and I thought it was amazing as a kid. I don't ever want to see it again though, because I'm pretty sure I would hate it now.

How much do movie poster photoshoppers make? Given the apparent skill level involved, I feel that I could do well in this field.

Never met anyone famous but
I'm curious about why people decide to make references when they meet a celebrity (as per Andy Battaglia's plan "to order my coffee, as per Twin Peaks' Special Agent Dale Cooper, "black as midnight on a moonless night." It seems like it would be a guaranteed way to annoy the famous person.

You should have asked them why the hell there are almost no CD versions of their albums.

Roger Mellie, your avatar bothers me. A lot.

Hierarchies of fandom coolness are ridiculous, but a hobby that leads to the unironic creation Gamer Grub deserves to take a beating. I thought the taste testers were going pretty easy on it, considering how completely depressing it is to think that people need specialized food for sitting in front of a computer for

SPOILERS, JUST IN CASE

After the Fall was pretty interesting, though I didn't get it consistently. They did a good job of making both the dialogue and events feel like a natural extension of the show.

What are some of the main theories? I wondered about that when it came up in the commentary, if they were serious, in-depth analyses or a bunch of jokes.

PCP is not free like AVClub recaps are.

How the hell am I supposed to get through Friday mornings now?

Things Fall Apart
Love the Big Dramatic Moment in movies where the good guy(s) starts losing, badly. The team is getting mowed down one by one, chaos is breaking out in slow motion, and there's no sound except maybe some sad music. I'm a big weepy sucker for it.

Ooh yes, the drifter who has done his bit, changed lives forever, but can't stick around. Keeps any happy ending from getting too sappy.

Swelling music!

It's been a while, but I don't think so - a lot is never explained, but I don't remember being particularly disappointed (except that the ending was confusing, which it was meant to be). The mystery of what the fuck is going on is compelling, but it's not really what the show's about.

The Fantastic Four are a boring team. When your heroes are a happy, super-wealthy family with fairly normal personalities, it makes for a bland movie no matter what villain or giant cloud they have to defeat.
