If you're going to recommend manga, why not one that is age-appropriate and perfect for girls: Chibi Maruko-Chan? It's really one of the better-written mangas, and is all about a young girl living in Japan with her family. There's also Crayon Shin-Chan, which is mostly age-appropriate, tho he does like to dance around

The reason for it is that the lines get changed sometimes up to the very last minute, so it's actually a bad idea to memorize lines that aren't going to be there or are going to be significantly different when you're standing in front of a live audience.

THIS. This is what I hate about his weekend update. The writing is usually poor to the point where they make the most obvious joke and there's usually no nastiness or actual anger behind it (for a counter example: see Norm Macdonald's OJ jokes, or most anything from Colin Quinn), yet Meyers just mugs at the camera

If you're watching it not to laugh your ass off, then it's really a lousy film. There is still a lot of funny dialogue in it, you just have to ignore the plot as much as possible.

I liked her first (solo) record, and then after that maybe one or two songs per album. I kinda gave up on her after awhile. The whole confessional singer/songwriter thing was what I liked, so when her lyrics started getting more and more obtuse, I just tuned out. Really wtf is a Cornflake Girl?
