I thought the one dance in the middle of the movie was pretty awesome, too, but otherwise, yes, Gong Li was the only good thing about the movie.

I think every episode of Firefly has scenes of pure brilliance and scenes of clunky nonsense. The bad ones just have a lot more clunky nonsense and it's way more egregious. Because of this, I actually wouldn't put Heart of Gold in the bottom. It seems very middle-tier to me simply b/c it doesn't have a lot of clunky…

This is pretty much what ruins the episode for me. Won't say this is the worst episode of Firefly, but definitely bottom three. There's quite a lot to like in the episode but too much of it seems writerly contrived rather than organic.

I used to love that shit (twenty minute song based on a Coleridge poem? FUCK YEAH!), but now, not so much. Powerslave is pretty much where I draw the line nowadays (tho I still love "Two Minutes to Midnight").
