I'm a Black woman and I agree that Sonia's racial dialogue is completely off on the matter. No, we're not post-racial and Rowan is very clear on that. But these characters are not here because of The Struggle. They are just some crazy ass people who happen to be Black.

Nick is the worst.

I thought Queenie was exercising, which made me… not gonna lie, chuckle for sure.

Not even a good hairdresser. No presses or wash and sets. Apparently, just weaves…. ?

Jezebel lost its Black audience many moons ago. They were a driving force behind the #SolidarityisforWhiteWomen movement because, basically, they're the worst.

Thank you. How did she just brush past Joe Morton's amAZing monologue? And I'm loving the Sally Langston storyline!

You know she's been an actress for quite a long time, right? And that she starred in a Tarantino film this year? And that she's the first Black prime time lead actress in like 4 decades or whatever? I know it's exhausting that she's "hyped" to you, but many of us see it as well-deserved acknowledgment for a long body

Thank you. I was surprised the review missed that!

Sally CRACKED ME UP! How are you saying Mellie's four minutes was the best when Sally was the only one who actually "handled it" this episode? Lmao! Everyone's so busy looking the other way and emotionally processing their spouses affairs. Sally was like "I am NOT the one!"

I was directly quoting the article.

Please see above… " I admit that it is still
astonishing and engaging to watch."

"There continues to be something romantic and powerful about the
attraction between a privileged white man and a fierce black
woman—because that relationship is one that inherently holds so much
history of abuse and disempowerment. I admit that it is still
astonishing and engaging to watch."

I ship Fitz and Liv. They have AMazing chemistry and it's so ridiculous that I just lean into it. When she smashed that phone and Captain Jake was like, "For real? You think that's gonna stop the president of the free world from getting to you? Come on, son."

B.

I think Kamau Bell should join the writing staff on this show to lend some depth to their racial humor. They have the performance talent, but they have such a lack of intimacy with Black culture that once again, their show falls flat to me. The Black Ice sketch could have been a brilliant skewering of how the news

From what my mom tells me, Black people definitely got the better deal when it came to segregationist entertainment… Great to see Moms Mabley finally getting some shine. Good to see that my people are still fighting the good fight against white erasure (no, not the band).

Right. If Liv's Mom is a terrorist, it would be exciting, but then, yet another murderer in her life. Plus, it would show that Evil Dad actually does have a heart (i.e. pulling her off the plane before it was shot down).

Yes. In fact, she is the reason why I, and the world outside of AV Club, actually watch the show.

Black women wear swimming caps. It's a thing.
