Hey, Roman Polanski's survived.

I actually think Hideaki Anno (Evangelion and half(?) of His and Her Circumstances) is Miyazaki's preferred heir apparent. Anno being cast in The Wind Rises and his short film Giant God Warrior Attacks Tokyo both point to this for me. The two seem pretty close considering how much disdain Miyazaki has for most of the

Yeah, I think I enjoyed that one more. Maybe it was the puberty—I remember the fact that female characters were described as topless (bare-chested, in YA speak). I think I really enjoyed The Wrinkle in Time spin-off Many Waters around the same time. Similar conceit.

So whatever happened to that rape allegation? Was it debunked in the court of public opinion, or are we just sorta giving him a pass for now?

I agree that while the Event itself may not be for new readers, the intent is. I'm betting that the new continuity will more generally reflect the feel and story of the efforts of Marvel Studios as an attempt to capitalize on the films' successes.

Oh jeez, that would be something.

The alternate reality premise I'm sure is what interests Scott and the people at Amazon. And I understand that appeal!

I probably should have caught that.

I watched this back when it was featured on Scenic Routes. I feel like my AV Club has started to loop. That was a great article though—wish they had linked it here.
I think I will:

I bet you could trace it back to Godzilla's atomic breath, really.

I don't think that Kao Kalia Yang is really owed an extensive introduction because she was not necessarily being interviewed herself and, from a scientific perspective, didn't have any relevant credentials.

I swear they aren't paying me anything
For anyone interested, Amazon is currently selling the Buffy box set at 64% off (so about $70), until Saturday apparently. I know it's easy not to pay for anything these days—and it's all on Netflix—but I guess there are always commentaries to listen to.

Season 7 is actually one of my favorites, despite some rough patches here and there. And season 6 felt like kind of a grind when I was first watching it, but it lives better in my memory, as I reflect on it.

Are the Simpsons even humans?
Also:
"Unfortunately for him, this case has a precedent: In 2008, an Australian court handed down a landmark ruling when it decided that Simpsons porn counts as child pornography."

Uh oh
"When did this show become so dreary?"

Dawn over Riley? Really? That guy was painfully boring and was never believably integrated with Buffy's friends. With Dawn, they took the time to establish what her relationship was with all the other characters in that diary episode, and I think it really paid off. Riley was always like an island, unto himself.

I never got much of an anti-military vibe from the film, but I did appreciate Arnold's return to nature at the end. Hell, it even got a montage.

So did you like it?
You kinda beat around the bush. If you enjoyed it, hey, come out and say it. Nothing to be ashamed of.
